This Akan Adinkra 'Owia Kokroko' translates to 'the greatness of the Sun' in Asante Twi. The Sun brings us warmth, vitality and helps sustain all life on Earth. A symbol of renewal and protection.

Janina Nana Yaa Asiedu (they/them) is a Queer Ghanaian artist, herbalist and Ancestral practitioner born in Aotearoa New Zealand. Founder of House of Afi and Nyame Dua, they offer ceremonial skin-care, spiritual beaded adornments, divination and shared space that guides through the waters of Ancestral healing. Janina's drawings with the use of ink pen and coloured marker allow the unseen to be seen, honouring various African Divinities, Adinkra symbols and mystical forces of Nature. Their heart is most content when uplifting fellow Queer, African, Black and/or Brown creatives.
